NFPA Fire Officer 1

Hybrid/Weekend Edition

Prerequisites: Preference given to personnel who have completed  Firefighter 2 certification.

Date/Time: 

Saturday, January 8th, 9th, 22nd and 23rd, 2022 Starting at 0700 to 1800 daily. Students must complete online coursework and attend all four days completing in class assignments to receive credit for passing the class.

Classroom Format:

Primary: All students in one classroom location each day with 1 to 4 instructors presenting daily.

Backup: Students in 3 smaller groups, rotating between up to 3 different classrooms with one instructor at each.

Disaster Recovery Plan: Live Delivery on Zoom.

Students will have independent reading assignments and online Quiz's to complete prior to attending classes. During classroom sessions there will instructor led discussions, scenarios and small group exercises. All students are expected to contribute to the group assignments.

Lunch: Is on your own each day.

Location: Due to the unpredictable nature of COVID restrictions occurring in different counties; the venue is currently TBD. Primary consideration will be venues in Marion/Polk Co where Instructors and/or Participants are registered from. Participants will be notified a few days prior to the course delivery of the locations and rotation schedule. - Any unpredicted events that potentially cause a disruption to the classroom format will be communicated at the earliest opportunity by email with an effort to mitigate the problem allowing the class to continue.

Coordinator/Instructor: Michael Kahrmann, Hubbard Fire District. Other instructional Cadre' will also instruct topic specific sections.

Students may not self register directly. Agency's will be invoiced at the start of the course directly.

Registration Notice: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the start of the first class. After that your fire service agency is obligated to pay the course fee(s). Substitutions are permitted prior to the start of the first class session. You must complete all assignments and attend all classes to receive a Notice of Course Completion (NOCC).

Backup: Students in smaller groups, scheduled sessions at predetermined times.

Disaster Recovery Plan: TBD if possible.

Students will have independent reading assignments and online Quiz's to complete prior to attending classes. Students will develop lesson plans/outlines and then present those lessons during classroom time.

Location: Due to the unpredictable nature of COVID restrictions occurring in different counties; the venue is currently TBD. Participants will be notified a few days prior to the course delivery of the locations and rotation schedule if required.
